










1. Each entry must be a minimum of 90 seconds and a maximum of 3 minutes in length.
2. Entrances and exits are not judged and a total of 5 minutes is allowed in the team category.
3. Music should be recorded on a good quality CD with only one song on it and must be labeled with name of school, song and category. Cassettes will only be used as a backup.
1. Routine should be between 1.5 and 3 minutes in length (Overtime will result in 2 pt. deduction).
2. Solo prelims will be performed on a stage or in a gym. All music must be on CDs, be sure to bring 2 back up CDs. Cassettes will only be used as a backup.
3. The winner of each age category will perform in the gym before awards ceremony. Each category in solos will be categorized separately by grades. (ex - there will be a 3rd grade winner, 4th grade winner etc.)
1. Competitors must be 16 years or older and must currently be on a public high school drill team and will compete in three categories: Dance, Modeling and Interview.
2. Dance: The routine should not be less than 90 seconds and not more than 2 minutes in length. Performance for prelims is on a stage. All music must be on CDs, cassettes only used as backup.
3. Modeling: Each contestant will be judged on a 5-point star. The tip of each star should exemplify a dance maneuver/ move. The first pose (see diagram) is at point one and continues till a head nod at the 5th point. Total time for all positions from head nod to begin and end should be no longer than 45 seconds. No strutting or dancing should be done between poses. Instead, it should be done as an 8 step walk in-between poses. After point 5, nod and stand in "T" position. The attire for this section is black leotard (sleeveless or with sleeves acceptable) and black tights. Shoes are at the performers discretion. (A stop watch is used to record time and a 2 point penalty is assessed for each infringement of rules.)

4. Interview: The contestant will be asked a question in front of the panel of judges. This impromptu answer will be judged on 'thinking on the spot', poise and grammar.
5. The score from the impromptu response will be added to the other two scores for the total points. The highest total points will be the winner of MDDTT and will win $500 and the opportunity to represent the State of Texas in the National Competition.
